“I must be the Virgin and give birth to God.” (Angelus Silesius, 17th century German mystic). The call of this time is to birth the holy in the midst of our lives, wherever we find ourselves. This is not something that waits until we have more time or space or money. We birth the holy right here, right now. In this Advent Season of hope and longing, we will spend time this weekend unpacking the ways we can be birth-givers to God for our world. Through prayer, input, sharing, and time for reflective quiet, we will consider the times we have both midwifed another’s birth into newness and given birth to God in our own life’s journey. As we pray “Come, Lord Jesus,” can we feel life stirring within us?
