Advent Retreat: “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”: The Antiphons of Isaiah

As we prepare and wait for the celebration of the coming of Christ on Christmas, the “O Antiphons,” inspired by the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, bring intensity to our Advent expectation. While these ancient texts, based on traditional Messianic titles and on the Book of the prophet Isaiah, implore Jesus to come quickly, they also give us reasons to hope in the promise of Incarnation: that, in the child of Bethlehem, who is both Messiah and Christ, God is already with us. You are invited to come to the quiet of these retreat days and join with others in reflecting on and praying with these beautiful songs of longing.
