About The Presenter: Brother John

Brother John of Taize is a native of Philadelphia, PA. Brother John entered the Taize Community in France in 1974. The Taize Community is an ecumenical monastic order in Taize, Saone-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. The community has become one of the world’s most important sites of Christian pilgrimage. Taize prayer includes songs, readings, and shared silence in an atmosphere of simplicity and tranquility. In Taize, among other occupations, Brother John helps the young and not-so-young visitors enter into the world of the bible. He spends part of his time in the United States and Italy to lead meetings and prayers with young adults. He has written ten books, translated into several languages, on biblical topics. The most recent is Friends in Christ: Paths to a New Understanding of Church (Orbis Books, 2012).
