Once again this year the Women’s Awareness Salon is meeting on the first Thursday from September to April (excluding December). In celebration of the Center’s 20th anniversary, they dedicated this season’s Salons to the Charisms of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia: Hospitable Heart, Care for Creation, Assume Goodness, Reflective
This month’s speaker focused on the charism of “Reflective Nature” which gives us permission to take time out of our busy days to connect with the indwelling presence of a loving God. Our presenter was Randy Schaffer who exemplifies a reflective nature through her paintings. Randy is a local artist who has studied a variety of techniques and mediums, most recently with Karl Kuerner, the renowned Brandywine River/Chadds Ford artist. A bold pallette and realistic execution mark Randy’s work which expresses her admiration for creation. Randy serves on the staff of Elam United Methodist Church as Coordinator of Spiritual Enrichment. She has also served for many years on the advisory board here at FSC and has been a faithful contributor to our center’s initiatives and mission. We are thrilled to welcome her to our Salon.
For the discussion segment participants were invited to share whatever it is that helps them find their own reflective nature. They were also invited to bring a small piece of art, a photograph, a crystal, a statue or anything that is their focal point as they enter into a quiet connection with Spirit.
If you are able you’re most welcome to join us for our November Women’s Awareness Salon which occurs on November 2, 2017.
