The spirituality of the 12 steps is experienced as a willingness to let go, a gratitude that perceives gift in all reality, a humility that relieves the pain of competition, a tolerance that accepts differences without conflict, a forgiveness that invites healing and the being-at-homeness that is found in accepting one’s own story. This weekend will offer a practical and realistic approach to life in season and out of season, when convenient and inconvenient.
Patricia Mary Walsh OP is a member of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, New York and she is the foundress and administrator of Emmaus House, Inc., a wholistic center which provides care for women religious. Pat has extensive professional experience in various levels of education, administration and counseling and she has been a consultant to religious congregations in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.
Peg Conlon, SC, a Sister of Charity from Convent Station, NJ, has ministered for several years as a counselor with high school girls. For over 20 years Peg has ministered at Emmaus House assisting women in treatment and recovery from addictions and other issues. She has also facilitated retreats for women.
