Franciscan Jubilee Celebration: Via Creationis
With The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia
September 12, 2026
Join with Franciscan sisters, companions and friends in walking a prayerful, seven-station “Way of Creation,” reflecting upon the mystery of Creation and our call to love and care for the earth, all creatures and one another. As Christians around the world celebrate the annual Season of Creation from September 1 to October 4, the Sisters of St. Francis host this special gathering in our beautiful chapel and grounds as part of the 2026 Franciscan Jubilee Year celebrating the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi passing into eternal life on Oct. 4, 2026.
Experience God’s spirit flowing among us, as we reflect on the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of a life-giving river, which inspired the 2026 Season of Creation “Living Water” theme. We begin at 2 p.m. in OLA chapel and will process to various locations around our beautiful grounds. At each station, we will listen to the two books that God wrote – that of Sacred Scripture and that of creation, contemplating the world around us in dialogue with Genesis, contemporary science, and Franciscan spirituality. After the pilgrimage walk, enjoy options for personal contemplative time or small group sharing outdoors, in chapel or in the Copper Beech room. All are invited to conclude the afternoon with the 4 pm Vigil Mass in Our Lady of Angels Chapel, followed by refreshments and social time in the Copper Beech Room.
